Toronto, Ont. October 5, 2007: Cellist Rafael Hoekman performs Vox Balaenae (Voice of the Whale) by George Crumb during Art of Time Ensemble’s America & the Black Angel at the Enwave Theatre in Toronto on October 5. Hoekman was joined by Susan Hoeppner on flute and Andrew Burashko on piano. All the musicians wore masks, as directed by Crumb. A live-mixed film by Peter Mettler (cinematographer on Manufactured Landscapes) set the backdrop to the eerie performance.
